Natural Acne Remedies

Acne is a problem for most teenagers. Some are lucky enough to have just mild acne, while other have to learn to deal with moderate or even severe acne at times. There are lots and lots of medications and chemical solutions available to help get rid of acne, but some people would rather use natural acne remedies. In some cases it is because their skin is extra sensitive and cannot handle the more common chemicals and medications, while in other cases it is simply because they don’t want to put all of those chemicals and medications on their skin.

Regardless of the reason why you are interested in natural acne remedies, there are a number of great options for you to consider using.

The most popular natural acne remedies

What makes natural acne remedies so popular is partly their gentleness on your skin and partly their relatively low cost when compared to over the counter medications. Some of these remedies might seem a bit odd at first, but they are popular precisely because they work for most people.

Some of the most popular natural acne remedies include:

Lime or lemon juice – Squeeze the juice out of a lime or a lemon and apply it directly to your face. These citrus juices are natural astringents, which means they are a natural way to remove excess oils and bacteria from your face.

Peel from an orange – You can use the peel from an orange to help reduce acne lesions, pimples, blackheads, and whiteheads. Just apply the peels directly to your face and leave them there for twenty to thirty minutes at a time.

Cinnamon powder and honey – Cinnamon powder and honey can be mixed into a paste that is thick enough to be used as a whole-face mask or as a spot remedy for pimples and other acne lesions. For best results leave the paste on your face or on your problem pimples overnight and then rinse using cool water when you get up in the morning.

Rosewater and sandalwood – When you mix rosewater with a bit of sandalwood you get a thick paste that, when applied to the face, is another natural astringent. It is also a good moisturizer for your face and when used regularly can help reduce and get rid of any acne scars you might have.

Steam – Letting your face soak up steam for about ten minutes or so is terrific way to open up the pores in your skin so you can have an easier time keeping them clean and unblocked. Create the steam by boiling water, but be sure to remove it from the stove before placing your face over it.

Mint – Fresh mint leaves also contain a natural astringent that can help get rid of excess oils and bacteria. Simply grind the mint leaves up and then press them to remove the fresh juice; apply the juice to your face and let it remain there overnight.

For many people, natural acne remedies are a great alternative to chemical ingredients and over the counter acne medications. If your skin is especially sensitive or you just don’t want to come into contact with extra chemicals, give some of these natural acne remedies a try!
