How to Get Rid of
Pimples
It never fails. Just when you are getting ready to go to a
special dance, spend the day at the mall with your friends, or
simply hang out with that terrific new boyfriend or girlfriend,
it happens. You look in the mirror and there’s a pimple. Or
two. Or ten.
However frustrating it might be for you, having pimples
(especially during the teenage years) is just something that
can’t be eliminated completely. There are a few things you can
do, however to reduce the number of pimples and lesions you
get.
So let’s take a few moments and focus on what’s most
important to you right now: How to get rid of pimples.
The basics of how to get rid of pimples
Getting rid of pimples requires you to take a two part
approach. The first part is taking the right steps to minimize
the number of pimples you get by practicing a good skin care regimen;
the second part is taking the right steps to get rid of problem
pimples that have already appeared on your face.
Part 1 – Minimize the number of pimples you get
The right way to minimize pimples is to practice a good regimen
of skin care. The goal of this skin care regimen is to reduce
the types of conditions on your skin that can lead to pimples
while still keeping your skin moist and healthy. To accomplish
this, you should do the following:
• Keep your skin clean – Your skin has all sorts of bacteria
on it, and if you let this bacteria build up along with dirt
and other pore-clogging things you’re going to get pimples. Use
a mild facial cleanser each morning and each evening, being
careful to clean your skin thoroughly without scrubbing or
rubbing. If you are too rough with your skin it will become
irritated, which in turn can cause even more pimples to
appear.
• Use an anti-acne product – Anti-acne products cover a wide
range of possibilities and ingredients. The two main
ingredients to choose from are salicylic acid and benzoyl
peroxide; each can be very effective in preventing pimples, you
will need to try one at a time to determine which works best
for your skin.
• Moisturize – It may seem odd to talk about adding moisture to
your skin when it is excess oil that contributes so much to
pimples. However, most anti-acne products can cause your skin
to dry out which can be very irritating. The answer is to
choose a very light, oil-free moisturizer that helps to keep
your skin healthy without causing excess oils and clogged
pores
If you establish this kind of routine and are consistent in
taking care of your skin, you will have answered part of the
question of how to get rid of pimples.
Part 2 – Get rid of problem pimples
Once you have a pimple, getting rid of it can be troublesome if
you are not careful. The first and most important thing to
remember is never, ever squeeze a pimple. No matter how
tempting it might be, you absolutely must not do this. Why?
Because it will spread bacteria further across your skin and
also greatly increases the chances of creating a long term
scar.
Instead of squeezing, try one of these much better
solutions:
• Apply a topical cream – Choose a cream containing either
salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide, preferably in a higher
concentration than you use for everyday cleansing. Dab the
cream directly on the pimple and gently keep dabbing until it
soaks in.
• Use a medicated concealer – Use a medicated concealer stick
to cover up the pimple, blending the concealer into your skin
carefully
• Continue your regular skin care regimen – Keep following the
regimen you have established based on Part 1 of this article.
It is important to keep the area around the pimple clean in
order to help your skin heal the lesion faster and more
effectively.
So there you are, you’re an expert. The next time around you
will already know how to get rid of pimples!
